ABOUT ANDREW HORSFALL
"BALANCE OF DUALITIES"
British-recognised sculptor | Member, Royal Society of British Sculptors | Exhibited at Royal Academy Summmer Exhibition
Core Philosophy: The Macrocosm and the Microcosm
The Macrocosm and the Microcosm Andrew Horsfall’s sculptural practice is fundamentally rooted in exploring the profound dualities that define contemporary existence. His work is a rigorous intellectual and material engagement with the constant, delicate interplay between extremes: from the macrocosmic scale of societal shifts and global narratives to the microcosmic exploration of ego, individual vulnerability, and the sub-molecular world.
He creates visual dialogues that address the tensions of modern life; examining themes like the erosion of Freedom of Speech (as seen in the Sarcophagus project) and the paradox of Overprotection (the Break Glass to Play series). His sculptures capture the essence of paradox and balance in a single, enduring form.
The Artist's Voice
"Sculpture, for me, is a conversation between material and spirit. Stone remembers landscapes, touch, and time. I carve to reveal the duality: seeking the precise point where heavy mass meets fragile core, and where form meets philosophy."
